Hello! I am so glad that you have found my blog, welcome friend!
My name is Marissa Franklin and I am a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I am also a wife, believer, and real food enthusiast. I am healing my body through the autoimmune protocol to fight IBS, eczema, acne, leaky gut, and difficulty sleeping. I love helping people to see that real food can be utterly delicious and healing. In my spare time I love hiking, painting, board games, drinking tea, and geeking out over nutrition and chemical-free skincare.
In my college years, my health started to slowly decline until I found myself avoiding many foods and replacing them with the wrong ones in order to not experience health consequences. In October 2013, a family friend recommended I look into the Paleo way of eating. I figured I had nothing to lose, so why not? I dove in and have not looked back. In the summer of 2014, I realized I needed to further refine my diet to look more like the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) to address my lingering health issues. This leaves me with no grains, dairy, legumes, refined sugar, eggs, nightshades, or nuts/seeds. Phew! This past year has been a year of immense learning and changes in my diet and lifestyle. Nutrition and nourishment have become my new passions and I am so excited to continue in my learning. I am still a work in progress but I know that I am now fueling my body with nutrient dense food to aid in the process of healing rather than halt it.
I created this blog to inspire and teach others. I want people to know that eating is not something you simply do three times a day. It is what literally fuels our cells and keeps our bodies going. What you choose to fuel your body with is so important. I hope that people begin to see mealtime as a time of nourishment. I believe that this can be a joy-filled process! Eating with restrictions is not easy, not by any stretch of the imagination. It requires a lot of preparation, time, and commitment. However, I have come to the conclusion that it is so worth it. It is worth it to not have my IBS symptoms, to heal my eczema, get rid of my acne, lower my PMS issues, and get better sleep. I want this blog to show people that you can find joy through the nourishment you give your body regardless of how restricting your diet may feel. Relish in the fact that you have the opportunity to customize your food, make lifestyle changes, and do so with joy everyday.
Yours in health,
Marissa Franklin, NTP
